英文字根、字首之練習篇

延續之前和大家分享的文章 ( 提昇英文，必學絕招二 )，利用「字根、字首」來拆解英文單字的技巧

天底下不管再高強的功夫，都需要持之以恆的練習，讓我們繼續來練習另一組字組吧！


今天要登場的是「note」這個字根，光看字面，大家應該都知道，就是「作筆記」的意思，時下流行的 Samsung Galaxy Note 就是取自這個意涵

好，該是讓「字根、字首」發揮強大威力的時刻了，一起來記住下面這些單字吧：

annotate = an + note + ate (ate 是動詞字尾) = to note 

connote = con + note = note together

denote = de + note = note down

上面這三個動詞當中，connote 是非常好用的動詞，代表「弦外之音、隱藏的意涵、暗示」

來個例句：

The word "plump" connotes cheerfulness.

送上這幾個字的英文解釋：

annotate: to furnish (a literary work) with critical commentary or explanatory notes
也就是「加上註解、註釋」

connote: to suggest or imply in addition to literal meaning

denote: to serve as a symbol or name for the meaning of

例句：High body temperature often denotes a flu or infection.
